Faith and Community Leaders to Host Mother of Sandra Bland
Group to offer Support to Family of Deceased Chicago Native
Just a couple days after Geneva Reed Veal, mother of Sandra bland, files a civil lawsuit over her daughter's arrest and jailhouse death, faith and community leaders announce an upcoming meeting wherein they will host the mother and discuss ways wherein the community can be supportive of the family’s pursuit of justice.
"Many local leaders and community stakeholders are troubled by Sandra Bland's death. We are convinced that this death should have never happened. The dash cam video conveys to the world yet another gruesome instance of racially charged police aggression in America. Sandy died in a cell that she never should have been in, in the first place. We will join her family in demanding answers in this another sad chapter in our history. "stated Rev Ira Acree, pastor of Greater St John Bible Church. The meeting will be held Tuesday August 11, 2015 at 9:30 am on the west side, where Bland, a Chicago native used to live.
